Voting is your fundamental right as an American, and the most basic means by which you have a voice in how your government works. By voting, you participate in a process that determines who will represent you, your family, and your neighbors in your community, your state, and your country.

The next Election in Fairfax County is Tuesday, November 4th General Election.

  • President – Barack Obama  | Vice-President Joe Biden
  • US Senator – Mark Warner
  • US Congress – 8th District, Jim Moran (18 precincts in Lee)
  • US Congress – 11th District, Gerry Connolly (4 precincts in Lee)

Other ballot issues as they may arise, such as referendum, bonds, etc.


calendar ELECTION CALENDAR 2008

  • July 27th – 100 Days to History! 100 days until the General Election.
  • August 21st – first day political signs may put up (Fairfax County – no earlier than 75 days prior to an election)
  • September 19th – absentee-in-person voting begins
  • October 6th, 6:00 pm – voter registration deadline
  • October 15th – absentee-in-person voting begins at the Franconia Governmental Center (October 15 – November 1; M-F 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm; SA 9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
  • October 28th, 5:00 pm – absentee ballot application (mail or fax) deadline
  • November 1st, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm – final day to vote absentee in-person
  • November 4th, 7:00 pm – absentee ballot returned (mail only; all mailed absentee ballots MUST be received at the Office of Elections by the deadline in order to be counted)
  • November 4th, 6:00 am – 7:00 pm – GENERAL ELECTION DAY
  • November 19th – all political signs must be removed within 15 days after an election (Fairfax County)
