Volunteer ALERT!

posted October 30, 2008

GObamaChange the world …

AND we need your help NOW. This just in, we have a need for MORE volunteers in Lee District.

This isn’t merely a plea for help. We are such a battleground that our need for volunteers on Election Day, in Lee District, just increased almost FOUR-FOLD!

Volunteer NOW, and here’s how you can help:

  • Election Day poll worker
Work at the polls both inside and outside the polls (inside workers must be a registered voter in Fairfax County, but outside workers can be any age, and not necessarily a registered voter). You may also work at a location other than your own poll (precinct locator: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/eb/pcts/lee/lee.htm).
  • rides to the polls

14 Day Countdown – Volunteer NOW!

posted October 21, 2008

GObamaWe have 14 days left in this historic campaign. 14 days remain to change the world.

Volunteer now, and here’s how you can help:

  • absentee in person voting poll worker (NOW)
At the Franconia Governmental Center (October 15-November 1, M-F 1-8 pm, SA 9-5).
  • canvass
  • phone bank
  • Election Day poll worker
Work at the polls both inside and outside the polls (inside workers must be a registered voter in Fairfax County, but outside workers can be any age, and not necessarily a registered voter). You may also work at a location other than your own poll (precinct locator: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/eb/pcts/lee/lee.htm).
  • rides to the polls
  • putting out signs
  • election canvass
Until the official counting and certification of the ballots is complete, all election results are considered “unofficial”.  A process known as the “canvass” must be completed before the results become official.  This will likely take 3 days for Fairfax County (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday  – November 5-7, shifts 8:30 am – noon and 1 pm – 4:30 pm at the Fairfax County Government Center).

CNN Laughs It Up Over Sarah Palin Interview

posted October 5, 2008

September 28, 2008

The sad part of this interview is that the John McCain’s judgment is so transparently lacking in his choice of Sarah Palin for Vice President. But … this is only one in a long string of poor choices, i.e. pattern of behavior, made by John McCain (how about the Savings & Loan crisis?).  More to come.

It is indeed all about character when choosing a President, and frankly John McCain can’t hold a candle to Barack Obama.

Lee District Weekend Volunteering: SA 10/4, SU 10/5

posted October 2, 2008

GObamaAs of this weekend, we have only one month left in this historic campaign. That’s one month to talk to your friends and neighbors about Barack Obama and Joe Biden. One month to make a difference locally as community organizers. One month to remind people that they can vote for a leader they believe in, and for the hope for a better America.

And one month left to change the world.

Sign up for a canvass shift (or two, or three!) this weekend and knock on as many doors as your feet can carry you to! This is when we win. Weekend volunteer canvassing locations (8 locations; map: http://tinyurl.com/leedems-volunteer).

Canvassing involves knocking on doors in local neighborhoods to register voters, identify voter preferences, recruit new volunteers, and distribute information on Barack Obama. We will do a short training at the start of each shift if you are new to canvassing. Please bring your cell phone if you have one.
