DEVASTATING: Washington Post Exposes McDonnell
posted August 30, 2009
In a devastating front-page exposé, this morning’s Washington Post examines the governing philosophy at the core of Bob McDonnell’s extreme ideological agenda. It’s all outlined in a 93-page paper he wrote just before entering politics. The Post calls it a “blueprint,” “a vision that he started to put into action soon after he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates.” Among other things, McDonnell argued that working women, contraception and child day care programs harmed society.
He described working women and feminists as “detrimental” to the family. He described as “illogical” a 1972 Supreme Court decision legalizing the use of contraception by unmarried couples.
We’ve said all along that Bob’s election year rhetoric about prioritizing jobs and the economy is nothing more than a façade. Now, voters are getting to see a glimpse of the Bob McDonnell that his campaign is desperately trying to hide.
UPDATE: Women all across Virginia are OUTRAGED, and are telling Bob McDonnell that they are not detrimental. What can you do? Write a letter to the editor NOW!
If Bob McDonnell becomes governor, he’ll continue to use this thesis as a blueprint for pushing his extreme social agenda that will take Virginia backwards.
Below is an excerpt of the article and link to full article, fact sheet, and McDonnell’s thesis.

Congressman Connolly: Town Hall Meeting
posted August 27, 2009
On Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA, 11th District) held a town hall meeting at Greenspring Village to discuss healthcare reform. A distinguished panel made presentations and then Congressman Connolly took questions from the crowd for nearly 90 minutes. [Watch the town hall on C-Span archives, click here.]
Greenspring resident and former Fairfax County Board Chair, Audrey Moore said of Congressman Connolly’s presentation that, “… he very clearly stated that he was in favor of the public option plan, and of providing health insurance to the uninsured. There was no fuzzy language, no hesitation. He did a great job, and I could not have been more proud of him!”
Dana Bash of CNN spoke with Ralph Dunham, Obama’s great uncle, also a Greenspring resident, who thinks that healthcare reform will pass.
Congressman Moran: Town Hall Meeting
posted August 27, 2009
On Tuesday, August 25th, 2009, Congressman Moran held a town hall meeting at South Lakes High School in Reston, VA to explain what the health care reform being considered by Congress really means for Northern Virginians. He took questions from the audience and was also fortunate to have Howard Dean, physician, former Governor of Vermont, Democratic National Committee Chair Emeritus, author, and national grassroots leader join him for the meeting. The meeting discussed current efforts in Congress to reform our nations health care system. Congressman Moran did an incredible job, masterful and with a sense of humor. The 8th District of Virginia can be very proud that Jim Moran is their Congressman.

74 days. 74 days until the November 3rd General Election. Moving Virginia forward with the pro-business economic policies of Mark Warner, or taking us backwards with the economic policies of George W. Bush. That’s what this election is about.
For weeks, Bob McDonnell’s gone around the Commonwealth deliberately misleading voters about the agenda he’ll bring to the governor’s office. And since the primary, he’s used his war chest to run TV ads that hide his dangerous record. Now is our time to learn about what’s at stake in this election.

Do You Want To Volunteer At the White House Office?
posted August 20, 2009
The White House Correspondence Office is in need of volunteers who can come in during the week to answer phone lines, screen mail and do other office chores. Hours are flexible to whatever you can do between 9 am and 5 pm. Most critical times are in the afternoon from 2 to 5. It is a very supportive role to the President as this is the official telephone line that folks all over the world call in to President. If you are interested or have family or friends who might be interested in this opportunity please let me know by email. There is a form to be completed by anyone who is interested that will begin the screening process. Please contact Charley Conrad if you are interested.
