Paying The Bill – Lt. Governor Bill Bolling
posted October 31, 2009
Jody Wagner for Lieutenant Governor
Republican Lt. Governor Bill Bolling is a Vice President at a health insurance company – but he says he’s not an executive. As Lt. Governor, he serves on a number of boards and commissions – like the Virginia Disabilities Commission and the Virginia Military Advisory Council – by law. He says his attendance isn’t “required”.
Bolling’s been taking heat from every direction on his record (or lack thereof), and so we’ve prepared this video to help him “respond” to his critics. We may be putting words in his mouth, but they can hardly be more ridiculous than his actual statements.
The bottom line is that Bolling is a health insurance executive at the same time he’s Lt. Governor (not to mention the fact that he’s taken $160,000 in campaign contributions from health insurance companies and HMO’s). It’s awfully hard to believe that it’s a coincidence that he uses his public office to fight President Obama’s health insurance reform.
But we thought we’d let Bill try to convince you himself.
Bill Bolling is not responsible for this ad, or anything else.

It is absolutely critical to understand the distinction between the philosophies of these two men [Deeds v. McDonnell]. – Sen. Jim Webb
from the Washington Post
- Planned Parenthood Criticizes McDonnell’s Comments
Ingraham asked McDonnell: “Can you promise that as governor you’ll use the veto pen to ensure that Virginians’ tax dollars are not used to fund Planned Parenthood or abortion?”McDonnell responded: “Yeah, I’ve said that I would do that. We shouldn’t be doing that in Virginia …That’s common sense …That’ll be part of what we’ll get done.”
- McDonnell on FOX News’s Hannity Show
GOP gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell said in a live interview tonight on FOX News that Republican wins in Virginia and New Jersey next week could provide momentum going into the 2010 mid-term elections — much like Republican wins in both states did in 1993.

Washington Post Endorses Steve Shannon
posted October 21, 2009
The Washington Post strongly endorsed Steve Shannon for Attorney General from in this morning’s paper. The Post says that Shannon would “steer a responsible course” in the AG’s office, and would run the office “as a serious, non-partisan agency.”
“Given his sometimes bizarre and incendiary ideas,” the Post editors wrote, “We worry that Mr. Cuccinelli would drive qualified and nonpartisan lawyers away, transform the attorney general’s office into a staging ground for his pet peeves and causes, and make it an object of ridicule in a state where it has enjoyed a long run of respect.
