2010 DPVA Jefferson-Jackson Weekend

posted February 25, 2010

Jefferson Jackson

The Democratic Party of Virginia is excited to announce that we have expanded our Jefferson-Jackson Weekend this year. During the weekend, Democrats from across the commonwealth will gather to build for Virginia’s future in 2010 and beyond.

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) will be our keynote speaker. First elected in 2006, Senator Klobuchar has been described as “a rising star” by The Washington Post and Politico calls her “bring-down-the-house funny.” She has been a strong ally to President Obama and is a leader in the Senate in the areas of consumer-protection, law enforcement and veteran’s affairs.

Washington Post Endorses Filler-Corn and Evans

posted February 24, 2010

The Washington Post Today the Washington Post endorsed Democrats Eileen Filler-Corn (41st House seat) and Sandy Evans (Mason District School Board) for next Tuesday’s Special Elections (March 2nd, polls open 6:00 am to 7:00 pm).

Ms. Filler-Corn, who worked as a liaison to Capitol Hill for former governors Mark R. Warner and Timothy M. Kaine, would be the more effective delegate. She has a much more fluent grasp of Virginia issues.

Ms. Evans has more experience and better ideas … a consistent track record of work on school issues … spent years scrutinizing the school budget [and] is specific in where she would cut and how much she would save.

The meetings will be rescheduled for March 19-20. Please save the date for this important weekend, because it will also be the Jefferson Jackson Weekend.
