  1. Radtke goes after Allen’s fiscal irresponsibility
    Tea Party Senate candidate Jamie Radtke received a ‘True’ rating from the Times-Dispatch’s fact-checking arm “PolitiFactVA” last week for her claim that despite his recent conversion to fiscal conservatism, spent six years in the Senate running up massive deficits. Radtke did the math and found that the debt increased by $3 trillion during Allen’s Senate term, a figure equal to $16,000 per second. PolitiFact said she was close, but the actual figures were $3.202 trillion, or $16,896.68 per second. To read more about the ongoing Tea Party primary click here.
  2. McDonnell signs debt plan for transportation. Virginians await a long-term solution
    Governor Bob McDonnell held a ceremony and signed a $4 billion transportation package yesterday. The Governor has described the plan, which relies on $3 billion in borrowing, as a short-term step toward a long-term solution. No word yet on when he plans to offer the next step.   3. Mills takes on Republican ‘government by campaign slogan’
    In a letter to the editor submitted to the Connection Newspapers, DPVA Executive Director David Mills explained the difficulty Republicans are having translating their bumper sticker approach to campaigns into solutions to the complex problems people are facing.   4. Allen praises Ryan’s Tea Party budget
    Former Senator George Allen went on record today praising House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan for his leadership in “leadership for offering a constructive plan to put America back on the path to prosperity.” The plan includes major cuts to key services for elderly and needy Americans, Medicare privatization and significant tax expenditures for corporations and the wealthy.   5. Virginians clean up in the wake of deadly storms
    The leadership and the staff of the Democratic Party of Virginia offer their sincerest condolences to the families that are coping with the vicious storms and tornadoes that swept across the state last weekend, particularly those who suffered the tragic loss of a loved one.
