The City of Alexandria, Fairfax County and Prince William County Democratic Committees hereby announce that they will hold an unassembled caucus at noon on July 10, 2011 at the William Halley Elementary School (8850 Cross Chase Circle, Fairfax Station, VA 22039) for the purpose of nominating a candidate for the 39th Legislative District of the Senate of Virginia. The 39th Legislative District consists of parts of the City of Alexandria, Fairfax and Prince William Counties (map, click here).

Any person wishing to be a candidate for nomination for the 39^th Senate District must submit a Declaration of Candidacy, $360.00 Filing Fee payable to the “Fairfax County Democratic Committee”, and Petitions of Qualified Voters (250 valid signatures) with Steven T. Bunn, Chair of the 39^th Legislative District Nominating Committee, 6501 Nevitt Way, Alexandria, VA 22315 prior to 5:00 pm, July 1, 2011. No person who has failed to comply with the prefiling requirements may be considered for nomination.

Any person participating in that caucus shall sign a standardized declaration form stating that he or she is a registered voter in the 39^th Senate District, a Democrat, believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, and that they do not intend to support a candidate opposed to the Democratic nominee of the 39^th Senate District in the next ensuing election.
