Congressman Moran: Town Hall Meeting

posted August 27, 2009

Democracy rules: discussion, some heckling, myths and facts. Healthcare reform wins!

On Tuesday, August 25th, 2009, Congressman Moran held a town hall meeting at South Lakes High School in Reston, VA to explain what the health care reform being considered by Congress really means for Northern Virginians. He took questions from the audience and was also fortunate to have Howard Dean, physician, former Governor of Vermont, Democratic National Committee Chair Emeritus, author, and national grassroots leader join him for the meeting. The meeting discussed current efforts in Congress to reform our nations health care system. Congressman Moran did an incredible job, masterful and with a sense of humor. The 8th District of Virginia can be very proud that Jim Moran is their Congressman.

Attention on aisle 3: Yes, Safeway shoppers, that is U.S. Rep. James P. Moran.

Moran is bagging groceries today at the Safeway at the Bradlee Shopping Center in Alexandria from noon to 1. Why? Well, because who doesn’t enjoy having a powerful person bag their groceries? Also, to help out Safeway’s annual campaign to fight prostate cancer.

The company raises money each year to aide prostate cancer research–it’s raised almost $42 million over the last nine years. Appearances like Moran’s raise awareness and encourage giving.
