Lee Delegates Sweep Post Endorsements

posted October 26, 2009

Lee District is represented by four House of Delegates districts: 39th, 43rd, 44th and 45th. The Washington Post made endorsements for each race, and it’s a clean sweep for the Democrats!

39th, incumbent Vivian Watts
Of her challengers: “None is the equal of Ms. Watts, a former state secretary of transportation.”

43rd, incumbent Mark Sickles
“A savvy, productive lawmaker.”

44th, open seat Scott Surovell
“An energetic, creative-minded lawyer who knows state and local issues in depth. He’s clearly the best choice for this open seat.”

45th, incumbent David Englin
“Is in a cakewalk against a former Bush administration appointee whose knowledge and experience regarding state and local issues are tissue-thin.”

Hello, friends!

We have a very important election coming up in just 3 short weeks, and the Republican attack machine is just getting wound up. If you haven’t invested yet in helping get out the Democratic vote for my campaign — as well as that of Creigh Deeds, Jody Wagner, and Steve Shannon — now is the time. I would like to invite you to my last community fundraiser of the campaign, where any money you are able to give will go directly to my targeted mail, campaign supplies, yard signs, and voter contact in these final, crucial days.

Please join me next Sunday, October 18th, at 4:00 pm at the home of my good friend Maureen Healey. I would love to see you there, and look forward to catching up.

I need your help to make sure everyone knows how important this election is to continuing the progress we have made under the last two governors.

Please join me in just one week’s time for the final push of my campaign with whatever you can spare — $250, $100, $50, or even $35. If you are unable to come, please consider making a safe, online contribution at http://www.actblue.com/page/sickles.

With so much riding on this year’s elections — a real transportation program, 21st century jobs, protecting education — I want to thank you again for all that you do. I hope to see you there next Sunday.

-Mark

Sickles Endorses Wagner

posted May 26, 2009

Wagner for Lieutenant Governor

As primary day in the Commonwealth rapidly approaches, I wanted to reach out to residents of Lee and Mt. Vernon Districts and let them know who I will be casting my vote for on June 9th in the Lieutenant Governor’s race.

We are lucky to have two outstanding candidates in the Democratic primary.  Jody Wagner, who served in the administrations of Gov. Warner as Treasurer and Gov. Kaine as Secretary of Finance, has earned my vote for both her lengthy experience on fiscal matters and her dedication to continuing economic growth in Virginia.

I have worked with Jody for the last six years and know her as a dedicated public servant, an advocate for tolerant, vibrant pro-growth policies, and a successful small business owner herself.  I am confident in Jody’s ability to work with the General Assembly to enact common-sense policies that will aid Virginia’s economic recovery.

I strongly believe it is important to have a Lieutenant Governor with experience in Richmond, one who can foster relationships with members of the legislature to get things done.  And we definitely need someone with the resourcefulness to beat Bill Bolling in November.

I cannot think of a better, more qualified person for the job than Jody Wagner.  I urge you to join me in casting your vote for Jody on June 9th.

-Delegate Mark Sickles, 43rd House District
