Johna Good Gagnon, Director

This summer I participated in Stakeholder meetings to discuss issues related to the creation of riparian buffers along headwater streams. These headwater streams are located upstream of existing Resource Protection Areas (RPAs). These affect many communities throughout Fairfax County. The information gathered from these meetings will be used by the Planning Commission’s Environment Committee and the Environmental Quality Advisory Council (EQAC) to evaluate a regulatory approach to extending riparian buffers upstream of RPAs. I will be attending additional meetings related to this throughout the fall leading up to a recommendation that will be given to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
