The Immediate Benefits of Health Reform
President Obama raises the point that health reform will not only have long-term advantages for the country but will have immediate protections and benefits this year if passed by Congress.
We don’t usually do this, but the Weekly Republican response delivered by Rep. Parker Griffith (R-AL) was so laughably inaccurate, that we’ve included the link to view it here.
Rep. Griffith: “In the next 10 days, Democrats in Washington will try and jam through a massive government takeover of health care. It would raise taxes, slash Medicare benefits and destroy American jobs. It would put federal bureaucrats in charge of medical decisions that should be made by patients and doctors. And it must be stopped.”

Paying The Bill – Lt. Governor Bill Bolling
posted October 31, 2009
Jody Wagner for Lieutenant Governor
Republican Lt. Governor Bill Bolling is a Vice President at a health insurance company – but he says he’s not an executive. As Lt. Governor, he serves on a number of boards and commissions – like the Virginia Disabilities Commission and the Virginia Military Advisory Council – by law. He says his attendance isn’t “required”.
Bolling’s been taking heat from every direction on his record (or lack thereof), and so we’ve prepared this video to help him “respond” to his critics. We may be putting words in his mouth, but they can hardly be more ridiculous than his actual statements.
The bottom line is that Bolling is a health insurance executive at the same time he’s Lt. Governor (not to mention the fact that he’s taken $160,000 in campaign contributions from health insurance companies and HMO’s). It’s awfully hard to believe that it’s a coincidence that he uses his public office to fight President Obama’s health insurance reform.
But we thought we’d let Bill try to convince you himself.
